My Calendar Project
It all started when I saw This Place is a Zoo's clever pictures of their stuffed animals in natural habitats. I thought it was very clever and my love of displays made the rest. What I do is simple, I take pictures of my stuffed animals out in the woods and fields around my home all year round and make a calendar out of it at the end of the year.
2008's calendar is finished and printed. But after we had this great 36 hours or so of snowing I couldn't resist heading out on my first day off with my arms full of stuffed animals and my camera to start on 2009th.
First things first, I am NOT EVER going back out after such a snowstorm without my snow pants. Let's just say I tried to crawl over the mount the snow plow had bunched up on the side of the road and I fell right through it and found myself buried in snow up to my waist. :p
After just a few pictures my legs were frozen solid and I had to come back in before I was 100% satisfied. Next time I'm wearing my snow pants.
Here are the pictures for my winter months I took on that day.

God I love that lion... He was placed on the lil mount the plow left and I was sitting on the sidewalk under him.

I had a similar picture last year of my otter sliding downhill, but it was too dark and fuzzy and I ended up not using it. This one is slightly better, I might try and include it.

I really like that one. The sun had just come out for a peek and the silver fox looks like he's just gotten out of his den and is looking around... It looks very natural to me. Plus the tree is gorgeous with all that snow on it's branches!
In 2008, winter was... long, to say the least. So in mid-March I had a wonderful snowstorm that allowed me to take pictures of my newly adopted Snow Monkey out in the snow. I might use that one for one of the winter months as well.

My pictures for March were taken in early April since March didn't look like a March at all. But it doesn't matter, really. The important thing is that the picture looks like the month it represents.

Though this one was REALLY taken in March, right before Easter.

I thought the idea of a bear coming out of hibernation might be cool but I just couldn't find a way to make a good picture of that. This is the best I could come up with.
I keep going to the same pool for April. But it just looks so nice and April MUST be fish themed, just as March should be hare themed. ;)
